Airtel 4G – Bharti Airtel launches 4G in Kolkata; data plans start at Rs. 999

Airtel today official launched its 4G service on a  TD-LTE, making India one of the first countries in the world to commercially deploy this cutting-edge technology , reported at Infogurulive .Bharti Airtel has become the first telecom operator in India to offer the latest 4G technology, as it launches the 4G mobile services in Kolkata today.

Airtel’s 4G (TD-LTE) network was launched by Mr. Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India.Bharti Airtel paid about Rs. 33.14 billion in 2010 to the government for 4G license in four circles namely Punjab, Maharashtra, Kolkata and Karnataka.The company has been given 20 MHz of BWA spectrum in 2.3 GHz frequency band. Airtel has roped in China’s ZTE Corp as the network vendor partner for the Kolkata circle.

After Kolkata Airtel will be launching 4G in Bangalore this month followed by Pune and in Chandigarh the cost of the 4G USIM  will be Rs. 49 and airtel 4G dongle will be priced at Rs7999.

The plans start from Rs.999 for 6GB of data, while the top-end plan is Rs. 1,999 for 18GB of data. There’s a plan for Rs. 1,399 that gives you 9GB of free data usage. Airtel is offering 4G services through its USB modems and 4G LTE Indoor Wireless Gateways. Users can avail Airtel 4G on both pre-paid and post-paid. After users exceed the free data quota, speed will come down to 128 Kbps as per Fair Usage Policy.Here is the complete data plan details.

Bharti Airtel To Launch 4G Services In Kolkata

Bharti Airtel is launching its 4G service on 20th March 2012 in Kolkata, intending to become the first mobile operator to offer 4G services in the country,reported by The Economic Times.

ET report claims that Bharti Airtel CEO (India & South Asia) Sanjay Kapoor had recently announced that Airtel would be launching its 4G services by end of March. Bharti had previously announced that it had appointed Nokia Siemens Networks, Huawei, ZTE and Ericsson to build and operate its TD-LTE (time division duplex long term evolution) network in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kolkata and Punjab respectively.  It had secured BWA spectrum in select circles for a total consideration of Rs. 3314.36 crores: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab and Kolkata.


Reliance Industries may offer Rs.10/GB 4G plans with Rs.3,500 tablets

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries announced high speed 4G data card for as low as Rs.10/GB, along with tablets that cost roughly around Rs.3,500 to be launched next year, reports The Economic Times. The high speed cards will be made available with their affordable tablets.

The company had earlier planned to launch services by mid next year on data cards that could be plugged into computers and laptops. The RIL services is based on fourth generation, or 4G, technology which offers faster internet access compared to third generation (3G) services. RIL plans to launch tablets at around Rs 3,500 and bundle it with data offering as low as 1 GB at Rs 10, a tenth of the current 3G prices.

Be Ready India for 4G High Speed Mobile Broadband internet in new year 2012.

Augere Wireless Broadband is ready to launch Long Term Evolution (LTE) based High Speed 4G Wirelss Broadband service in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh telecom circle beginning January 2012.

UK based Augere Wireless Broadband company plans to invest up to $60 million over the next three-five years to launch fourth-generation (4G) broadband services (BWA) in Madhya Pradesh telecom circle Brand as “ZOOSH Broadband”

Bhopal(MP) will be the first city in Madhya Pradesh to get the 4G Broadband services in January followed by other major cities in like Indore, Raipur, Gwalior in MP and chattisgarh till the April 2012.

Ericsson will plan, design, build, operate, maintain and provide equipment management for the 4G network. The TD LTE technology is capable of speeds up to 100 Mbps and is backwards compatible with 3G (CDMA as well as GSM) which means that subscribers will be connected to 3G via Roaming in other service providers where 4G network is not available.

BSNL and Reliance Infotel (RIL Group) in the only pan India spectrum winner for 4G / BWA service. Other winners are Bharti Airtel (4 circles) Aircel (8 circles), Tikona Wireless (5 circles), and Qualcomm (4 Circles) and MTNL (2 circles).
